“Parasite” Streaming Guide: Lee Sun-kyun’s Oscar-Winning Film – Release Details and OTT Platforms
South Korean Actor Lee Sun-kyun, renowned for his role in the Oscar-winning film “Parasite,” tragically passed away, as announced by the South Korean emergency office. The actor was found dead in a car in a Seoul park on Wednesday.
Lee Sun-kyun, recognized for his exceptional performance in “Parasite” and nominated for an International Emmy Award last year for his role in the science fiction thriller “Dr. Brain,” was discovered unconscious at an undisclosed location in Seoul.
“Parasite,” a critically acclaimed film, tells the story of the poor Kim family seizing an opportunity when their son gains employment with the affluent Park family. The film explores the dynamics of class and social issues.

Lee Sun-kyun was recently under investigation for alleged drug use, part of an inquiry by the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency in South Korea. Lee claimed to be a victim of blackmail, losing a significant amount of money to extortion related to the case. Police had questioned him multiple times regarding the alleged use of drugs.
“Parasite” achieved significant recognition, winning four Oscars in 2020, including Best Picture, Original Screenplay, Foreign Feature Film for South Korea, and Best Director for Bong Joon-ho. It also made history as the first South Korean film to win the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Lee Sun-kyun and the ensemble cast received a Screen Actors Guild award for Best Cast Performance in a Motion Picture.
