Apple Plans to Introduce Generative AI in iPhones with iOS 18 at WWDC 2024, According to Mark Gurman

In a race to stay ahead in the tech landscape, Apple is gearing up to introduce cutting-edge generative AI tools for its coveted iPhone series at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, slated for June. According to insights from tech expert Mark Gurman’s ‘Power On’ newsletter via mysmartprice, Apple’s upcoming iOS 18 update is set to bring forth a new era of artificial intelligence, ushering in innovative features aimed at enhancing user experiences.

Anticipated AI features may include auto-summarization, enabling users to distill lengthy content, and an auto-complete function for apps to streamline interactions. Apple is also expected to integrate AI into Apple Music, promising a more personalized and intuitive music streaming experience. The report hints at the introduction of new AI-based developer tools, offering creators enhanced capabilities within the Apple ecosystem.

Gurman discloses that Apple has been diligently working on a proprietary Large Language Model (LLM) named Ajax since early 2023. This advanced model is intended to infuse AI capabilities into flagship products like Macs and iPhones. The LLM will play a pivotal role in integrating AI into services such as Siri, Apple Music, core apps, and more. Consumers can expect the launch of the much-anticipated Apple Vision Pro, a mixed reality headset, in February. March may witness the introduction of refreshed iPad Pros featuring OLED displays and the powerful M3 SoC, along with a possible debut of a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air. Furthermore, an upgraded Apple TV 4K, equipped with a new chipset, might hit the market in the first half of 2024, according to Gurman’s projections.
