Highlights of Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra: Restrictions imposed by Manipur government ahead of the campaign.
Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Highlights: Rahul Gandhi commenced the second phase of the outreach program, ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ from Manipur’s Thoubal district. The journey began at the Khongjom War Memorial, covering 6,713 km, spanning 100 Lok Sabha constituencies, 337 assembly segments, and 110 districts. Scheduled to conclude in Mumbai on March 20 after 67 days, the yatra is a sequel to Rahul Gandhi’s earlier ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ which covered over 3,000 km on foot from Kanya Kumari to Srinagar. The latest campaign is expected to involve extensive bus rides. Originally planned to start from Imphal Palace Ground, the location was shifted to a private ground in Thoubal due to imposed restrictions by the BJP-led government. The Thoubal deputy commissioner’s office outlined conditions, limiting the flag-off ceremony to an hour, with a maximum of 3,000 participants and prohibiting anti-national or communal slogans during the rally. The Yatra’s permission is contingent on maintaining peace, public order, and tranquility in the area.
