Indian cricket team’s renowned batsman, Virat Kohli, and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma have joyously revealed the birth of their baby boy named Akaay.

Indian cricket team star batsman, Virat Kohli, and popular Bollywood actress, Anushka Sharma, shared the delightful news of the birth of their second child on Tuesday. Both celebrities took to social media to announce that they were blessed with a baby boy on February 15. The couple named their son Akaay. Their first child, daughter Vamika, was also mentioned in the heartwarming message. Prior to this announcement, Kohli had withdrawn from the ongoing Test series against England citing ‘personal reasons’.

In a joint statement posted on their Instagram accounts, they expressed their abundant happiness and gratitude, sharing, “With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay & Vamika’s little brother into this world! We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives. We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time. Love & Gratitude. Virat & Anushka.”

Following the announcement of the blessed news, fans, as well as members from the film and cricket fraternity, flooded the comment section with warm wishes.

Actor Ranveer Singh expressed his joy with a string of ‘evil eye’ and heart emojis in the comment section. Meanwhile, actor Rakul Preet Singh wrote, “God bless.”

Virat and Anushka tied the knot on December 11, 2017, in Italy. Their first child, Vamika, was born on January 11, 2021. The couple chose to keep their second pregnancy under wraps.

However, former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers recently revealed on his official YouTube channel that Kohli and Anushka were expecting their second child. In a subsequent video, de Villiers apologized to Kohli for the oversight, urging everyone to respect their privacy. He said, “My friend Virat Kohli is still not available. I cry out to everyone to give him the privacy that he deserves. Family comes first. No one knows what exactly is going on. I am asking all of us to respect that. I made a blunder in my previous show and I apologise to the Kohli family for that.”
