Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sensharma Revisit Wake Up Sid Characters in New Ad; Fans Call for a Full-Fledged Sequel – Watch Now
It has been 15 years since the release of Wake Up Sid in theaters. Recently, behind-the-scenes pictures from a recent photo shoot featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sensharma surfaced online, sparking speculation among many fans. Could a sequel to Ayan Mukerji’s film be in the works? Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The two stars revisited their characters from the film for a brand new advertisement for the phone brand OPPO.
Sid wakes up in Goa!
The advertisement kicks off with Sid and Aisha, who have relocated to Goa. Aisha is now employed at a magazine in Goa, and they share a home together. Sid, played by Ranbir Kapoor, is occupied with finding all the packages, but encounters an issue with the malfunctioning AC. He remarks, “Ek toh Goa mein itni garmi upar se main bhi itna hot (Goa is so hot nowadays, but so am I)!” Aisha, portrayed by Konkona Sensharma, opens the veranda door, suggesting it for cross-ventilation. Sid’s friends Rishi and Laxmi are also present. While Laxmi has her attention fixed on the basket of mangoes Sid’s mother sent, Rishi is enjoying the sunlight. Sid grabs the new phone, snaps some pictures as usual, and the short advertisement concludes.

In response to the new ad, fans expressed their desire for a full sequel! One fan exclaimed, “I cannot even begin to express how much I love this ad. Nostalgia. We need a sequel to this!!” Another fan wrote, “Why is this promo 3 hours long?” A comment stated, “Omg!!! I had a smile on my face watching this. But we want a full film please. This is my most favorite beautiful yet simple film! Please make a sequel.” “Nostalgia hits like a train wreck,” read another comment.
“Wake Up Sid” marked the directorial debut of Ayan Mukerji and the first and only collaboration between Ranbir and Konkona. Ranbir was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Animal,” while Konkona’s new web series “Killer Soup” was released on Netflix yesterday.
